As I said before, the coin had been cleaned and all I think they did was get enough crud off of it to see it was a coin. I couldn't make out any detail when I first looked at it, so I tried cleaning it with ultra sonic with water and was surprised that I saw some bright copper color right away on the high parts of the coin. That turned out to be where they did some overly aggressive cleaning/ sanding or grinding, who knows. But after doing many times is when I uncovered enough detail to try to find out what it was and from when.
