This campgate has fifteen rows...I can't recall seeing an example with more, though I only casually note the rows...paying too much attention to these details could turn you into a psycho Other neat stuff too, with decorated top and bottom row and dotted border on left and right and archway. Constantine I A.D. 328-9 19mm 3.4g CONSTAN-TINVS AVG; Laureate head right PROVIDEN-TIAE AVGG; camp gate with 15 rows, two turrets, no doors, ✶ above. in ex. Hi Victor. I believe this is one you sent to me when I first joined the Forum! Seven rows! Thanks Again.
@Victor_Clark......That's a great looking campgate! A very methodical engraver! I have a few Lic I....
8 rows is the best I can do. But we had a little contest last year and I remember @Bing had a Constantine II with 13 layers and @singig a Constantine I with 12 rows; but I believe you're the champion here !
Thirteen is the most of any of my coins CONSTANTINE II AE Follis OBVERSE: CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C, laureate head right REVERSE: PROVIDENTIAE CAESS, campgate with two turrets, star above, eSIS(double crescent) in ex. Struck at Siscia 328-29 AD 2.9g, 20mm RIC VII 216
Ar Argenteus of Maximianus Hercules Serdica Mint 304-305 AD Obv. Head right laureate Rv. Camp gate RIC 1b 3.35 grms 18 mm Photo by W. Hansen When I started collecting Roman coins the argentii were very scarce and the ones from Serdica among the most scarce. I bought this one when the hoard(s) surfaced late in the first decade of the 21st century.
Introducing my latest campgate, it's not special because of the rows (a meager 6), but it's not in RIC. The reverse is pretty cool with open doors, but this coin is awesome because of the obverse, helmeted with spear and shield. Dealers pic-- Constantine I A.D. 318- 319 19mm 3.4g CO-NSTANTI-NVS AVG; cuirassed and laureate helmeted bust left, spear pointing forward and shield on left. The only difference, yours has 7 dot's in top raw, mine 8. ( i count them verticaly to ). I will post a picture soon, my camera setup has a fault for the moment. greetings , sky92880

Hello Jim, If that is the correct obverse and reverse, your coin is Theodosius I, RIC 62b, A workshop, not listed in RIC.
Here is a Campgate of Constantius II that retains full silvering. I got it in an uncleaned lot. Very nice in my opinion.
