On the offhand chance this thread falls onto page 2 before he sees it, let’s tag @dougsmit to congratulate him properly. Way to go Doug!
@dougsmit Congratulations Doug. If my math is correct, you have averaged more than 22 likes per day, every day, for the past 12 years. Those are Jim Brown-esque numbers. Jim Brown, the Hall Of Fame running back for the Cleveland Browns, averaged 104.3 rushing yards per game, over his entire career, an NFL record, and averaged 5.2 yards per rush (3rd best ever, among running backs), over his entire career, which spanned 9 years. And he never missed a game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Brown
Doug's patient instruction on CoinTalk and his pages at FORVM were my first experience with ancient coins. For that I will always be grateful!
Congratulations Doug! The posts you give are very well put and it has helped me understand ancients. Thank you for sharing your coins and your knowledge.
I normally don't pay much attention to likes, but that's pretty impressive. I see @Alegandron is at the top of the stack with 108K+ as of right now, with @dougsmit remaining #2 and becoming only the second member of the elite 100K Club. @Bing, currently at 84K+, is the next in line...
A clear affirmation for the informative and friendly Ancients side of the forum (despite our occasional pinned reprimand…)
Congrats, Doug. Thank you for all the teaching. As well as the many cast-offs that I have acquired of yours over the years.
Congratulations @dougsmit I learned a lot about ancients from his posts back on the old Yahoo chat boards 15+ years ago Another impressive stat is that he has slightly over 20,000 posts. That means he is averaging almost 5 likes for every post! He obviously is posting good info
Sometimes we have to pin the reprimand to be sure those who might indulge in less informative and friendly behavior see it and takes it seriously. Alas, the Ancients forum, despite its higher level of intellect and culture, is not immune to shenanigans and scofflaws, as we've seen. Doug (@GDJMSP, that is- not @dougsmit) can be pretty blunt, but he gets the point across when and where it needs to be. Wonder what might have happened if I had taken the more subtle route, and posted a picture of this extremely unusual NCLT "coin" from the Solomon Islands, instead?
Congratulations on 100K likes - and I look forward to 20K more posts to "Like" and continuing to see new and interesting topics in metal disks. Best Wishes, S
Congrats Doug! You probably win a t-shirt or hoodie for this milestone, or free parking at the Cointalk.com headquarters.
