It was a good writeup. I'll be honest with you though that I still don't think facebook is meant for that roll. My wife does facebook but I never have and probably never will. It doesn't grab me. I'd be happier not having everyone know what's going on in our daily lives. To me, we have e-mail and cell phones for sharing information that is worth while. These social networking sites seem narcisistic to me.

But anyway, I guess I just don't see an additional benefit it would provide beyond all the forums that are already available for exchanging information. Where the vast majority are already willing to participate due to the fact of remaining anonymous. And ALL, 100%, are there because they are interested.

Say your collection was worth $20k. You kept 15k worth at the bank and 5k at home for you to look at. Just as an example that might represent somebody on this forum. Who knows?

You show this and that on facebook to a list of 20, 50, 100, 200 or more friends, of which, the vast majority knows exactly where you live. Then you have a break in and coins and other valuables are stolen. Now your entire friends list (most of which have no interest in coins anyway) become suspects. People that never needed to know, now only serve to complicate tracking down who did it.

That's the only concern and unfortunately the reality of the world we live in. Now, you may say "my collection isn't that valuable." "It wouldn't be worth stealing." Well, where do you draw the line? If somebody's collection is only worth $100, it's worth stealing to somebody and is more than anybody wants to lose. I feel as most probably do, that it's better to be safe than sorry. I'm to a point where if just the storage supplies were stolen it would be a tragedy. Although I'm quite satisfied with the security measures in place.

Just my .02 cents.
