I collect CSA notes but by no means am I an expert. This note looks real to me. It's cut close on the left side but it appears most of the framing is intact. The bottom has been cut to the point the black framing is missing. The litho was done by Evans and Cogswell. It was engraved by Keatinge and Ball, Columbia SC. The serial number is 38877 and it was issued on February 17th, 1864. Both signatures are the ones that should be on this bill. The writing is constant with what I have seen. All of coloring is normal. The reverse framing is well within standards as compared to the obverse. On the reverse the lower right is a tiny bit ragged. The bill has a few small stains and it shows it's wear. This is all normal for a CSA note. Please hold the bill up to a light and check for pin holes. If any are present a small stain may appear around the hole. Not all CSA bills have pin holes or a pin hole stain but it wouldn't be unusual if it had these minor problems. That could be a pin hole(s) by the lower left 5 on the reverse. For all of these things to be present it would be the best forgery of any type that I have ever seen. Based on the photos I have given my opinion as to why I believe this bill to be the genuine article. It is a CSA (Confederate States of America) note. The serial number is on the high side and the overall condition is good so I would price this bill in the $75.00 range. I believe the number is T-69.
