I religiously worked on it for about a year!! I thought it wouldn't be no big deal but then found out there actually was ALOT of coins to complete it & some cost alot more than the usuall 10-25$, there were times I could only get a coin a week and had to save up a while for the 21's
No but ain't that a coincidence - My Dad had his right eye shot out with a BB gun by his brother when he was 14 - and it never opened up since. Poor old man - he's 95 but he's doing really well - "cross my fingers"!!!!! I think I'll go outside and smoke to that - thanks Green! Love a good menthol after a few beers!!!
Congrats! Finishing any set is an accomplishment, and the Walkers can be challenging in the early dates. They will look very attractive in a Dansco. Your 21D looks to be a G-6. If you go with the Franklins for your next set (which is a fantastic idea), I would strongly suggest going with UNCs. They are widely available in uncirculated grades (for only a small premium above the silver price). Franklins are actually a much easier set than Walkers (until you start going after FBL pieces).
Well I'm retired and only do a few woodworking jobs on the side to put towards my coin collecting addiction - plus my wife would cut my nuts off if I overspent on coins - LOL!! I was lucky to complete my Walker set without any "What are you spending your money on" - yeah, I guess I'm PW but don't want to piss her off - I'm too old to get divorced, LOL even more, although pretty realistic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WTG !!! Markus.....nice set of walker half's . Now a little hint don't tell her anything I find sometimes wives are on a need to know bases. You never lie that would be wrong. You just never tell.....ask me no questions and I'll tell you no lies. Example Did you buy that Tequila? yes I did it was on special all true as I did buy it and it came with 4 matching glasses that looked special to me. And always answer a question with a question best defense is a good offense . it also helps to be able to run fast.........Run Markus run....
For me, I loved the challenge. 65 coins to a complete set. I usually give up on date and mint mark sets so I was happy to see this one through. Plus I just love walkers.
Like I said before - Franklins in circulated condition I don't have the scoots ($) to collect MS coins, but circulated F-XF I can do that.
Congratulations! ! I have about 10 AU/BU Walkers and hope to actively work on the set one day. They are my favorite design. I still work so am able to collect a few coins. I know about the wife thing. Every couple or 3 weeks or so, when surfing the net for coins, I'll buy her something, not alot, probably less than my next or last coin, but it makes life a whole lot simpler. The best thing that ever happened to my collecting habbit, was when she landed a big insurance account from a coin collector/appraiser/broker. He convinced her that it was a lucrative hobby. He didn't convince me, just her.
Very nice. I like the way walkers look circulated too. Some coins look good that way. These are some that do. Congrats
