dwhiz's thread had me thinkin'; completed album ? I have none. Missing 3 early Jeff's (got 50-D, thanks to jake1932), and got all Roosie's up to 72-S, but not full. You ? Full albums ?
I've got full Whitman folders of 1941 to now in BU condition mostly. Working on the pre 1940 ones though.
I've got an old "window slide" Whitman with a merc set. It along with some other treasures are in the SDB. On that merc set, no 1916-D. Maybe one day.
Full: Liberty V Nickels Buffalo Jefferson Mercury Dimes Roosevelt Washington Quarters Walking Liberty Halves Franklin Kennedy Peace Dollars Ike SBA
I am not quite as complete as @Inspector43 but I have a few complete; Lincoln Whitman books 1 & 2 Mercury Dime Roosevelt Whitman Book One Walking Liberty Half Franklin Half Kennedy Half up to 2005 Ike (two full books) Presidential Dollars Peace Dollars State Quarters with Proofs And have a Dansco two and three cent book with four empty holes making me absolutely crazy.
Nice @Randy Abercrombie The subject allowed for complete books. I do have complete sets 1900 to date: Nickels, Dimes, Halves and Silver Dollars issued for circulation. All the modern commemoratives. I wish there was a nice way to display all the commemoratives. Short on quarters and cents. I didn't mention above that I also have the First DANSCO Album Morgan Dollars 1878 to 1890 full. Missing 3 in the Second Album. I will keep working on it as I believe you will.
I "finish" a set based on condition and affordability. For example, I would say I have a "finished" Mercury Dime set but only because I can't afford an VF-XF '16 D. My Peace dollar set will be finished after 2 more coins (except the AU '28 P I can't quite find budget wise). I also have a complete run of Roosevelt Dimes, statehood quarters and Prez Dollars. I am currently working backward on Lincoln cents, I need 1932 (I think) back to 1909.
Just some, but don't have a lot of albums anyway. I have easy things like Roosevelts, Franklins, Jeffs, in BU. However, I quickly moved into older US coins, then ancients. I think as a rebellion against the "hole" mentality. I don't like being told what I should buy, especially for a hobby. I REALLY detested 55 DD and 22 Plain cents. Those are simply mint errors, not a variety. I don't do errors, (cool if you do, but I prefer non-error coins). and detested others telling me, with the hole, that my lincoln set was incomplete without it.
Completed sets of ASE (bullion)........Roosevelt Dimes......Kennedy Half's. All coins are '65 or better (my eye). They reside in Danscos. One set of Franklin Halfs that I plucked from the 'change' as a lad. They range from XF to low mint state, and reside in an old Whitman album. Lastly, one 'almost'........... https://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/co...ulation-strikes-1946-1951/publishedset/136829
That "hole mentality" is exactly why I don't necessarily do albums as much as make my own based on my own standards. That way there is no guilt looking at the empty hole in the album. I work on a set for a grade I can afford and be happy with it, so I fully agree with rebelling against the hole.
