Very good thread. I keep my collection well organized (which is not common for my lifestyle) and I considered several times to create a list of emperors I have and I need. My initial plan was to have at least 1 coin for each (imperial bronze and/or silver and/or provincial). But this is not an option as some emperors are expensive and I simply don't want to pay 2-300 EUR for a very low end example (and for some, this would be very optimistic) just to have this box ticked. I prefer spending 200 EUR for 4 nice coins even if I have those emperors. Looking at the rulers list (including people who were never emperors) here are the ones that are missing (completely) and the prices should not be prohibitive - Agrippa (I would like the Neptune As but never got an example being nice for the eyes and for the pocket) - Galba and Otho (especially Otho). The coins I have seen having prices I could afford were too ugly. I am not a condition snob - I have coins in my collection that others would refuse and I like them. But everything has a limit, especially when they are expensive - Cloudius Albinus (simply didn't like what I saw) - Diadumenian (I need to get a provincial someday, I like the Deultum provincial with the she wolf and twins and I lost a coin I very much regret, having a superb glossy green patina) - Aquilia Severa - an average antoninianus shouldn't be very expensive but most likely I ignored her in auctions - Orbiana - same as above, I would need at least a provincial - Herennius Etruscus and Hostilian (my interest starts to decrease chronologically starting this era) - Aemilian, Mariniana, Quietus, Marius, Laelianus, Tacitus, Florian, Magnia Urbica, Carausius, Allectus, Theodora, Galerius, Galeria Valeria, Maximinus Daia, Maxentius, Fausta, Licinius II, Decentius, Jovian, Theodosius I , Magnus Maximus and all the rulers after him except Honorius and Arcadius Some of them are common but I will only buy their coins if I find a true bargain. My interest in Imperial coinage kinda stops at Postumus. The coins I have after Postumus were mainly snacks - I saw it, I liked it, I got it. I also managed to get many LRBs I found iconic in design but I am not developing this area. I recently got a decent Honorius with bust facing - mainly because I found the facing bust a nice variety compared to most Roman coins and I think that was a predecessor for Byzantine coinage. Got it for 19 EUR but my maximum bid would have been 20. I do not intend to get very rare emperors. And even for the common ones, adding a Tacitus for example is not a priority. I would prefer a 1st or 2nd century denarius, it can be in an average condition, but I want to like it. A ruler that is common-ish and I would like a modest denarius - Augustus (but not the Caius and Lucius denarius). Another main target for me - a coin with Caesar's portrait, I would be happy even with a Divus Julius from Thessalonika.
