I am trying to catch up on attributing some recent purchases and am stumped by this denarius of Commodus. Using Wildwinds, etc., I can come close:

Commodus Denarius. L AEL AVREL COMM AVG P FEL, laureate head right / LIB AVG VIII P M TR P XVII COS VII P P, Liberalitas standing front, head left, holding coin counter and cornucopiae. RSC 325; RIC 239.

But my example does not match the reverse. Mine is clearly AVG VIIII and has a star in the left field. My lack of RIC is showing again - can anybody help? I'd be much obliged.

Holy Moley! Thank you for the information, Zumbly. I paid $7.81 for it (eBay lot). Bottom-feeder's luck for sure. I'm much obliged.
