I didn't really know where to place this thread so I figured I would stick with what I know best... silver!

Does anyone collect commemorative coins from the US Mint?

I don't really collect them at all. I came across the opportunity to purchase a nice chunk of them so I did. I don't care to have complete sets or anything like that. I think they are pretty cool, though. Do you all have any?

Here's a picture of mine on my kitchen table... along with some pure silver and a .45

I have a few. It's something you want to buy if you like them, they usually carry a premium price that isn't justified by the silver content. Having said that, at least they are silver and if the SHTF they'll still hold some value due to the precious metal content. I wouldn't buy base metal commems though.

Yup! They cost a little bit more. I bought them because I got a really good deal on them based on the silver content. Believe me when I tell you... I couldn't care less about anything BUT the silver content lol. It's definitely fun to look at them, though. It actually helps me teach people about the need to buy precious metals. When I show them a raw chunk of silver... eh... maybe they will listen and maybe they won't. When I pull those out, they, for some reason, see more value and start to listen. I use them to spread the word, mainly!

Nice, I like the idea of using them to explain to people the value of investing in precious metals. I hadn't thought of it that way before.
