My first coin began with the Kg Edward VII $1 Silver. Ever since then it has remained the same till the later years collecting British Borneo Malaya and Malaysia. The series are quite similar to that in all British Colonial rules except different countries and denominations. We have Queen Victoria, Kg Edward, Kg George V, Kg George VI and lastly Queen Elizabeth till 1961 followed by our independence. One of the example in my collection: Region : Straits Settlements Reign : Kg Edward V Year : 1908 Denomination : $1.00 Content : .900 Fine - Silver Weight : 26.9g Shape : Round Diameter : 37mm Coin Edge : Milled Mint : Royal Mint London Mintage : 4,151,652 Grade : AU Details Looking forward to some sharing from other collectors of the similar field. Be great to see your collections.
Here's a copy of a Straits Settlements 50 cts. It's a common year but getting high grade coins are a challenge. There is a rare copy of the similar but with a dot below the bust instead of a cross as this coin illustrates. Attached 2 coins of Kg Edward V 1908 copper, both in BU conditions. One raw and one graded. Copper coins are about one of the hardest coins to keep. Nice one!!!!! Big $$$$ if find 1879 or 1889 20 cent from settlement Mini World Book has a Star as rare
Straits Settlements Queen Victoria 50 cents coins, they are a challenge to collect. It's the highest value then in circulation for the period minted from 1886 to 1901 other then the British Trade Dollars which only started circulation in 1895. Well, finding high grade coins for this series is hard and expensive. Mintage was low, circulations high, making most coins worn off. So finding coins in VF to XF conditions is a consolation, AU a steal, UNC a jackpot. Attached a XF copy, sadly graded by NGC with excessive surface hairline scratches which I bought raw prior sending for slabbing. Region : Straits Settlements Reign : Queen Victoria Year : 1899 Denomination : 50 cents Content : .800 Silver Weight : 13.517 g Diameter : 31 mm Coin Edge : Milled Coin Shape: Round Mint : Royal Mint, London Mintage : 136,000 pieces Artist's : Leonard Charles Wyon Grade : XF Details
Nice 1899 50 cents!! *Mintage's number 1886 -1900 are low. I was reading somewhere the ships bring coins only 50% made it due to bad seas. *I am not a expert but did read that in a Coin magazine or online. What 1 I am not sure

Region : Straits Settlements Reign : Queen Victoria Year : 1901 Denomination : 50 cents Content : .800 Silver Weight : 13.517 g Diameter : 31 mm Coin Edge : Milled Coin Shape: Round Mint : Royal Mint, London Mintage : 120,000 pieces Artist's : Leonard Charles Wyon Grade : NGC XF45 ((Total numbers of coins graded by NGC - 25. XF45 - 5 pcs)
