    Well, the Athenian Tetradrachm prices went UP when 30,000+(estimates are all over the place) pristine examples came to market and are still being absorbed by the market.

    Apparently, the location of the wreck is known to a lot of folks. So, either the site should be continuously guarded or a proper salvage operation should commence ASAP. Otherwise, at 3,000 feet down, some crude methods (bottom-dragging a scoop for example) may be used by unauthorized people.

    Just as a side note to this thread, this cob arrived today. I think it came from the Piedmont (1795) also known as the Lyme Bay Wreck. I don't have any documentation to that effect; the coin is clearly salvaged, but is also in very nice grade.

    Potosi, Charles II, 8 reales, (16)79 C over E. Likely salvaged from the Piedmont (1795).
