LOL....passing through that area, many years ago, I remarked about the Sky Kill (Schuykill) river and was promptly informed that it's pronounced Skookull........:)

Isn't junk silver normally packaged up in $1000.00 face value bags?

Even high value items left in plain sight? You would probably find the company declining to pay off on the grounds of negligence. In your trunk out of sight they would probably pay.

I also suspect attempted insurance scam because he was robbed going TO a show. I think every such robbery I have heard of before is coming home FROM the show. (Identify the victim carrying valuables at the show and follow him home. How would you identify him going to a show? Random bad luck would be possible but it still seems odd.)

I do NOT collect bullion and yet I routinely carried my entire collection around. It only contained four boxes and about 200 coins. Retail is close to 25K and I have mostly low end coins. I'm not a dealer, just an avid collector. This doesn't sound crazy to me.

I did 'disguise' my coins by placing them in a multi-use grocery bag for ease of handling and I occasionally left them in my truck (locked) when I paid for gas or stopped by a pharmacy rather than lug them around.

IDK, $50k is not that much in coins nowadays. I could see how he easily had that much in a car.

Coins are pretty small, it gets kinda scary when you start adding them up. I was going through a drawer the other day and started adding up estimated value and stopped about halfway when I topped 20k. I didn't want to know the total really.

I know what you mean. I had estimated less than half of what I came up with before I actually took an inventory. It's like kids, they grow up fast.

It's hard to tell the nature of the break in. But, I do know that if you are parked in a bad neighborhood, things do not have to be out in the open to be stolen. Thieves will break in on the hunch of finding something good. With a little experience, they get pretty good at it.
