I have just started on this endeavor, its really interesting that no bars in this category are alike instead of industry standards these bars have unique weights but be for warned though cool most come with hefty premiums for obvious reasons..LOL, here's my very first one thought I would give it a good share will post more as I go along.
Since you started this thread about odd silver, I am going to ask this question that has bugged me for some time.... We all get silver rounds. I have plenty myself.. How can we be assured of the purity of a silver bar or round when it is struck by somebody we aren't familiar with??... I know it says .999 fine silver.... Heck, I could say I am 6'6" tall.... Do we just take these outfits at their word on purity?
You either take them at their word, or you get it tested. There are numerous surfaces tests (chemical and radiological, such as XRF). For the really large bars, they actually drill into it and take a core sample to make sure it isn't tungsten or something else plated with silver.
Very Cool and refered to as Odd weight bars. The Older Vintage does usually bring a premium. Be Careful at the lip of the rabbit hole Backside with character.
