Hi guy's, On January 15th i started a collection of US coins. I never collected coins before so i was looking for some information about it and i stumbled upon this and other great sites with information. As i live in Belgium it is not very easy to get your hands on some coins from the US, at least that is what i thought. I registered myself on this forum, introduced myself and told what i wanted to collect,.... Result, my inbox with private messages got flooded with people asking my address to send me some coins :D From this forum alone i am expecting 10 packages to get here, and on another forum there are 4 packages on its way to me :D Now, to send packages from the US to Belgium it takes a while, (between 7 days and 2 weeks i have been told) But then i got an idea, someone from my workplace was just on vacation to the US, so i asked her if she had some coins left. She had, and she gave them to me. No special coins as far as i know, but hey, a man has to start a collection somewhere and i was very happy with them. ;) Meanwhile i was browsing the internet and i found some nice coins i would like, but all to expensive for me at the moment. I found silver dollars and i loved them. The only thing is that i don't have much cash to spare at this moment (but that will change soon) so i cant buy them yet. And then it happens: There was a contest on this forum. All participants will get a prize and there was a grand prize for the winner. I thought to myself, what should i do and eventually i started to write a piece about the Belgian 1 franc piece and its history (http://www.cointalk.com/t198404-3/#post1350163) I never won anything before in my life, and i was happy that all participants could get something, so that was a win win situation anyway. When the results of the contest came in i was shocked :p I managed to get a shared second place :D The price: a 1923 Peace Dollar So that coin will be the pride of my starting collection for a long time when it arrives :D Here is a list of coins i already have: Lincoln Memorial's: 1974 P 1975 P 1976 P 1982 P Small date Brass 1985 P 1986 P (2 times) 1994 P 1995 P (2 times) 1995 D 2000 P Lincoln Bicentennial's: 2009 P Presidency Roosevelt Clad dime: 1967 P 1995 D 2011 P Jefferson nickel 1972 D 1974 P 1986 P 1994 D Washington Clad 1987 P 1989 P State Quarter 2009 P Guam America the Beautiful 2010 P Yosemite National park Westward Journey 2010 p Westward Journey See you on the next blog entry ;)
