On this thread, everyone will be allowed to contribute two wheat pennies from their collection and it will continue until all dates and notable errors (1922 and 1955-DD) are accounted for. I will add checkpoints along the way to show which coins we have. Please don't post the same wheat penny that someone has already posted. It doesn't matter what condition, just post the two wheat pennies you want. I hope to do this with other coins, so enjoy! I will kick us off with these--> 1958 View attachment 393282 1944-S View attachment 393286
You have 2 problems. I doubt there are 150 posters of Lincoln cents here. Even if there is, no one could possible remember which of the +-300 coins have been listed. Last time this was done, they were posted in order and that worked. Sorry, but I cannot find it now. It was some time in 2012 I believe.
I said I would add checkpoints along the way to see which ones we have. I also might skew the rules if no more people are posting
I liked your post, but seriously, I want everyone to have a chance to contribute a piece of their collection rather than one person posting 200 wheat pennies and taking a chunk of fun out of the thread.
Wheatmaster101, don't forget we have a group that insists that the US one cent valued coin cannot be called a penny. I'll contribute some penny pics when I get home.
For the average person on the street "penny" is fine; everyone understands. I just feel that for a numismatist the correct term should be used. Same thing with "double die" and doubled die". And you might notice that the term "cud" is slowly having it's use being broadened.
I think this could be an interesting thread, though as noted it will be tough to keep track of all that is posted and/or available. Alas, I have no Wheat cents to add.
