Based on a few previous threads, I decided to try and collect all the coin Acronyms in one place along with their corresponding translations.

I doubt this list can ever be complete, but I will try my best! If you see any important acronyms missing, please let me know and I will add them. I am working on cleaning up the translation / definitions.

Currently I have compiled around 211 Acronyms.

Trying to keep this free of generic internet Acronyms, but if you think one must be added let me know.

I frown upon this list. The table is apparently all text and jumbled on the Tapatalk platform I'm running on my iPhone and I can't understand anything :(

This is actually an ongoing issue with my phone and Geeks tables. Wonder what's up with that?

Seriously though, I'm sure it's another great list/resource as usual.

Well, certainly not used often, but I have always favored AYFKM - Are You Freaking/Flipping Kidding Me? This is particurally true when discussing eBay. :)

I have the same problem (sometimes) with TapaTalk on my Windows phone. Lists look great everywhere else (desktops / tablets), but sometimes the forum tags for TABLES don't render completely on my phone. :sour:

FYI, In TapaTalk app, if you click the options button in a thread, and then select "web view", it will open it in your phone browser and it should look fine.

Very suitable workaround! Worked like a charm.

Oh and you can add LSCC to your list. Liberty Seated Collectors Club

And Bowers' favorite acronym. FD - Full Details

TK... CSA! Gr8 wrk, Geek, LOL!

Now get to work on lists for the Bullion forum, paper money and Ancients, too. :D

When you finish those, how about one for just the TPGs: NGC, NCS, PMG, PCGS, ANACS, et. al. ad nauseum for all their lingo associated with grading terminology, etc.

Thanks for the hard work, looks great!

Added, and a few others. I keep thinking I've found all the major acronyms, and then I find another 10. Like how did I miss CRH?

Another option would be using the list that we have had here for years. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/numismatic-acronyms.1559/ Not as nicely formatted as geekpryde's list, but it should work in pretty much any browser ...

Yes, that was a great start to a list, Which is why I referenced it in my original post. However as far as I know it is no longer updated (since 2005) and it has only around half the number of Acronyms I needed. I was hoping to create something that can be maintained by myself for the benefit of CT.

If anyone sees any errors or omissions with my list, please let me know.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

    You left off CT ☺

I would recommend adding the acronyms that specialists use (B, BB, V, JR, O, F, VAM, and a whole lot more)

Good go at a list, this is probably the most complete one I've seen.

Jason, can you define the acronyms you've listed? Only one I'm familiar with is VAM. Good luck at the Fun Show. Hope you get the new PL for your set. (just surmising that you're looking to add).

Typing on this tablet is driving me crazy. I'll get it when I get home.

Acronyms in the Army we had about 165 books just for Army letters. If we had to address any other service there was a library of Acronyms book in D.C. I guess what I'm saying acronyms are a pain at times.but the best one is SOL.

    :)
