These seem to find themselves in circulation a lot. Rather strange, must just be the abundance of them minted. at least in Maine these are easy to get. Maybe a Franco thing?
Thanks I appreciate your thought but at my age I've learned that a few things I can no longer do, a few things I can still do and most of what I could do, I now do differently. I wish you a full recovery even though it takes time. Just do what you can and be thankful for it.
I see all the time when people have coins in holders and do not press the back of staples down on the cards. The staple hooks do more damage to the holders and coins over time. Just look at the hooks on the back. They damage the clear cover and let the environment in.
It makes sense if you ask me, plus low-grade French-Imperial coins are typically found in abundance in foreign coin accumulations.
Here is my 23 weak S, close cousin of the famous 22 weak or no D. I think it is not worn from circulation as much as it is a worn die/weak strike issue like the 22 D. However, it fits your OP in that it looks like an odd wear pattern for obverse to reverse. Old avatar is better and sorry to hear about your knees, you are much too young to have problems like that. Maybe if you get them fixed you can take up golf to keep in shape.
