ZAR 1892 2 1/2 shillings. I like that Paraguay 1/12 above. I am waiting for my first Paraguay coins to arrive, and the pipeline is quite slow...
This was another in today's batch and came with a bunch more Indian Princely States coins. This the smallest - One Sixteenth of a Rupee from Hyderabad (with a US cent for scale). Date is AH1300 (~1882 CE). There were other Hyderabad fractionals in there, but they were all so similar in everything but scale that there seemed no point posting them!
I have a set of 6 coins on the way, very recent date or dates, probably UNC. I have been having good luck with a dealer in Ukraine lately, since India's been shut down. Here is Ceylon half cent 1870.
Panama, 1 1/4 Centésimos, 1940 I think Panama only made this denomination for a single year and then thought better of it.
Egypt, 2½ Millieme, 1933/AH 1352 I believe this was another single-year type. The world needs more octagonal coins!
Germany Bishopric of WURZBURG Johann Hartmann von Rosenbach 1/84 Taler (Dreier) 1674 With a diameter of 16 mm, this coin could easily get lost
Not a coin, but a pub token for the City Arms in Wells, Somerset, which in former times was the city jail (closed 1810 but still complete). Dated to 1869-70, it was issued by Edwin Henry Joseph, landlord from 1869 to May 1870 when he was made bankrupt. 24mm diameter and made of brass. Came in a box of junk and has a certain family connection in that my aunt had the pub at one point before it was listed. Small world. This is the pub today. https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101382996-city-arms-inn-wells#.XwpKfud7laQ
Nice coins! I will keep it going... Satraps of Karia AV 1/24 Daric ND Halikarnassus Mint Pixodarus/ King (Satrap of Karia) 321-34BC Alexander III of Macedonia Conquered Karia in 334BC. But historians agree that he died a natural death, and was succeeded by his son(upto Alexanders conquest)
Sweden, King Charles XIV John, 1/3 Skilling Banco, 1842 I believe Sweden had two parallel money systems at the time, one based on specie (riksdaler specie) and the other by unbacked banknotes (riksdaler banco). Both had subsidiary copper coins. This coin is 1/3rd of 1/48th of a riksdaler banco.
