What a shame.. And a scam! :inpain:
    Made in China :banghead:
Does anyone else besides me have a feeling that the PCGS slabbed Dime on nail that sold for $48,000 at auction might be a fake also!

I see youve been in the work shop. Vice or a hammer?

If you can think of it, guaranteed it's already been thought of and out there.

I wonder when we will start seeing Draped Bust coins on nails.

Well, as far as I am concerned, we can blame PCGS and Heritage Auctions for this nonsense. If either or both had said "get out of here with that thing" this stuff may have been headed off at the pass.

I've seen one of these listed on Ebay before clearly offered as a fantasy piece, there was also a buffalo nickel over struck on a cent I believe. Although I'm sure someone will eventually attempt to deceive someone else using them this is what's gonna happen when 'fantasy' pieces are allowed unmarked imo.

And that's why you NEVER buy a slabbed nail! I buy all mine from Home Depot from the bin in a plain brown paper bag. And I won't allow them to sticker my bag. :)

I have one half of the equation, a bag full of 1800s square nails. Anybody have any counterfit DB dies? :greedy:

I'm waiting on a Union Pacific Railroad spike with an 1840's eagle on it. Hey think big guys.........better yet an 1840 gold eagle on a railroad spike made into ......wait for it.........grand Pa ' s ghost cane. Now that appeals to the numismatic collector as well as other nut cases. :)
