SGS, Aboncom, Scumbag Grading Services, & Stevesgiftshopp are all one in the same entity and ebay should be embarrassed allowing them to grow into the monster thieves and deceivers of new and sometimes no so new collectors.

RUN AWAY FROM THEM AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

Of course this is just my opinion and they may sue me and anyone who criticizes them, feel free to spread these "opinions":secret:

Lemmyk,'SGS' does stand for 'Scumburger 'Grading' 'Services'.They should be put into the Coin Talk Numismatic Hall of Shame.

SGS was dubbed as the preeminent "SSS" (Shameless Self Slabber) on the eBay Coin Board. I have done a lot of first-hand research on this company...having visited Mansfield, OH and "snooped" around...as a previous poster suggested. Unless someone wants to start a class-action suit against Mr.Bence, and Mr.'s (and Mrs.) Gacsi, nothing will ever be done about them. :(

I have bought SGS coins before, but only because I needed them. I bought a MS-64 coin (SGS) and I was not suprised when it was slabbed as XF-40...

    Folks,

I think most of us have the opinion that SGS is garbage. Of course that is our opinion and is subjective. (Expect that phrase from me a lot anymore).

SGS is now slabbing currency but they offer like 4 grades. Now what does that tell you when currency actually uses a 70 point scale.

If you're gonna slab a coin use PCGS, NGC or ANACS. Same goes for buying.

If you want to buy from all of these other services. BUY IT IN PERSON with your ANA Guide in hand. Pay what it's worth not what they ask.
These guys really make the phrase "buy the coin not the holder" even stronger.

I actually crack out my coins and although SGS may have a few nice coins, you cant tell by the grade and the pictures offered by most of the sellers offering these are poor to make any decent judgement.

If you are tired of sorting through Ebay auctions and wish to block these from appearing in your search results I have two solutions that you may not be aware of:

    1. Next to the search button click advanced search and scroll down to "FROM SELLERS". Click the radial button "From specific sellers (enter sellers' user IDs)". Click "EXCLUDE". Enter the sellers screen names offering these coins such as SGS, Aboncom, dew1111. And search....You can save this search as a favorite search and label it as Excluded Crap or what ever you wish.

    2. Easier way in the search bar enter -(SGS) along with what you are looking at. Example ... Morgan -(SGS) ... Be sure to include the space before the minus sign.
