That's a nice Seleukos Susa victory drachm!

I can match the Pyrrhos coin though.

    Nice one, Inspector!

I also have a Constantius II follis that I believe no one else on CT has. It’s looking rather common, but the officina mark B in the reverse field has, according to David Sear, only been observed on 3 coins. Mine is (at least) number 4.

    Constantius AE3.jpg
Constantius II, as Caesar AD 324-337.

Reverse: Two-turreted gateway of military camp. Star above, B in right field. Mintmark: SM TS

I also challenge any CT’er to come up with a sample of this issue:
    Lucius Verus prov.jpg

    RPC Online Volume: IV.2 №: 362 (temporary)

Reign: Marcus Aurelius Persons: Lucius Verus (Augustus)Magistrate:Pherekydes (strategos)

    Denomination: Æ (33 mm) Average weight: 24.13 g. Issue: Marcus and Verus, co-emperors (c. 161-163)

@svessien Very nice coins. Do you clean your own coins? All of mine are from uncleaned lots. So, I never know what I am going to get.

This being the Ancients board, we could probably easily take this thread to a hundred pages, particularly if things like officinas, blundered legends, and minor device differences are sufficient to meet the "no one else has" benchmark :). Gotta love ancients :D.

Excellent coin! Yes, I have the Trajan version of this one, purchased in my first months of collecting. The obverse really caught my eye. I thought it was unusual for the emperor to be depicted in a secondary or almost subservient manner. A demonstration of piety??

Nvb, I agree, the similarity is more than casual. With both tribes living in close proximity there must have been cultural exchanges, or your coin is indeed made by the Veneti Tribe, but at a later date. With so many Celtic tribes having no written language the best we can do is make educated guesses about these coins...

About 2 years ago I knew nothing about the ancients. My US coin collection was at the point where I couldn't do much more without spending mega bucks. I started getting uncleaned lots. I made up my mind to clean, identify and catalog 100 ancients. I got to about 120 and stopped. I may do more, but, they too are getting expensive and difficult to find decent coins to work with.
