    Hi everyone, Been picking up a few coins from this country lately. I find them interesting. Having Unusual Themes with Historical references and nice artwork. Here are a few to check out. :) 2005ukraine-tile.jpg Sorochynsky Fair was recognized as the best coin of Ukraine in 2005.

    The coin commemorates the victory the Grand Duchy of Lithuania achieved over the Russian army (then the army of Moskovy) in the battle of Orsha (today a city in Belarus), fought in 1514. This victory was of great international importance, as it halted the advance of the army of the Grand Prince of Moscow Vasili III of Russia. The army of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, consisting of Polish, Lithuanian, Ukrainian and Belorussian troops, was commanded by Prince Konstanty Ostrogski of Lithuania.

The monastery, founded at the bottom of the hill on the right bank of the Siversky Donets river, was first mentioned for the year 1624. The principle role in its architectural composition is played by St.Nicolas church (17th c.), the most ancient temple of the monastery, the main part of which is located inside a rock

    I love that one of the cathedral is st. Nicholas. I have a weakness for coins displaying architecture though!

    Not "kohihok" but копійок (in Cyrillic script), or kopiyok. Kopecks may work too ...
