I had a Franklin proof get stuck in transit like yours. After a week of no movement, I went to my local post office and gave them my tracking number. The postmaster was able call around to locate it and get it moving again. Sometimes if u you get someone actively looking for it, it will show up and head on its way.

I have never made a claim before...I never stated that the seller did anything wrong. There is an action button in 'my ebay' drop down that states: "I didn't receive it". Since I didn't RECEIVE IT, I thought that was the proper procedure.. You sure are quick to condemn! Oh....have a nice day.

Don't worry jwitten seems to hate a significant number of customers. You did nothing wrong here.

As I understand it, it does not matter if you didn't point your finger at the seller; by jumping the gun when you knew the package was still in transit, it still goes as a mark against the seller. Sometimes a little patience, and common sense, go a long way... put yourself in the seller's shoes; would you appreciate a claim filed against you, without the buyer bothering to contact you first, for something clearly not your fault and still within a reasonable delivery window?

I've had a couple of items never show up and the seller has always made good for that item, And I left a very nice feedback for that, Never got the item but the credit was back in my pay pal account.
My avatar is a picture of one that never did show up, lost in Florida somewhere. I am in CA. item was sent from OR.

In the seller's shoes, I'd be unhappy to have a claim filed against me, but I wouldn't hold it against the buyer. As @re-collect said, eBay provides a clear path for reporting an item that hasn't arrived, but provides no indication that following that path hurts the seller. I've found myself in the same situation before -- I just wanted to let the seller know that there was an issue, but eBay turned it into a "claim".

I agree with most of the responses...give it a little more time...somehow your coins will find their way to you.

Had a coin sent to me 1st class from NJ to PA, after 7 days the tracking still just said a label had been created. I contacted the seller just to be sure it was actually shipped, was assured it was. 5 days later it finally arrived. I left + feedback, but I guess since I asked a question I was punished with no feedback...

I have received coins in a regular white envelope with just postage stamps on it faster than ones sent using a shipping label , go figure...

With the USPS handling in excess of 155 billion pieces of mail a year delays at some point are bound to happen. Be that from human error, weather, etc... they still have a pretty good track record with delivering over 512 million pieces of mail a day.

With priority mail insurance is included up to a certain amount. It serves to protect the buyer and the seller. With priority mail the seller can make a claim after 6-7 days of a non delivered/lost item. With a refund to the seller within days of filing.
If the package was mailed Parcel Post/Select it does take longer to file a claim as the delivery time's are longer and the prefer you to wait about 30 days to file.

Ebay does have guarantees in place to protect the buyers when a item gets lost in the mail.
Ebay encourages the buyer & seller to work out any issue between each themselves and then open a case only if both parties cannot agree to a resolution.
Ebay does penalize sellers and it effects their account when anyone opens a case against them.

On a Ebay seller page if you click on their ID name it will bring up a window that gives you the opportunity to contact them.

If you read their propaganda, they do it all over. When it comes into practice, they make it difficult to find how not to file a claim.

He probably just forgot, I've had sellers not give me feedback before and I'm sure it wasn't due to anything I did.

hi, i had a eBay sale with tracking say delivered, even though i was home all day and it was delivered 3 hours earlier to someone elses house.( i followed the tracking number of both items) my mail was delivered that day with another item i had purchased. so bottom line is the mailman scanned my package at another house hold and i never received.
i lost out, luckily it was a couple of dollars but felt cheated by USPS. this was the only item ive ever lost due to the mail.

That is why delivery confirmation is worthless. Yes it was delivered.....somewhere. And as long as it is marked delivered you are stuck and ebay is off the hook for the buyer protection.

Sometimes the USPS got the package sitting somewhere or they drop it to the wrong like your neighbor and it happen to me before. They scan it but it can be the wrong address. Also sometimes my neighbor will bring it over

You DID say you opened a case for it. I do know that ebay tricks buyers into that now, which is terrible.

eBay doesn't "trick" their own buyers. If eBay tells you to do something in their system you just do. If eBay wants you to open a case they are not "tricking" you. You seem to have a huge issue with a system you seem to hate yet continue to use. Did eBay "trick" you too?

I always wait a week or so and then contact the seller first.
A week or so after that, I might open a case. There is no need to be in a rush.
