Do NOT take your coins to college. The dorms are not safe; some people who are less than honest will find a way to take stuff. Plus you will need time to study, and you do not want to be doing your coin collection when you should be going to the library or something to study and all. You will have limited room. What you might do, is rent a safe deposit box for your most valuable coins, and keep them there. Then just do roll searching or something if you find you have some extra time. But you probably be playing sports or doing other things with your extra time.
