They were, of course, copies of genuine coins and their appearance by itself was somewhat odd. As to what the purity of the gold was, it seemed more like 18 or even 14 carat and not coin gold. Bottom line. Coin jewelry can be very attractive, and wearing something used by people 2,000 years ago has a certain cachet difficult to duplicate.
