Well, foolish me - I believed the cr*p so many people were posting about how they lie to their wives and cheat them on a regular basis. I really hope you are correct that it is just a bunch of blather.
Some probably did mean it, but for the most part I think it's exagerated. I do have things shipped to my grandmother's house sometimes because I stay there sometimes because when I travel for work I her house is 2 hours closer to the airport for early flights. Not to mention she's home a lot so the package wont sit outside all day most of the time where as at home it probably would be outside all day.
Well, you can't just lump everyone together and say " men should......." Like I said, I showed this thread to my wife as did others. Also when you go back and read the posts one by one, out of 100 posts, there is really only a few that advocate deceiving. For most of us, it was just good fun. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. The exceptions don't make the rule. Mike
And let's not pretend wives don't do similar things. I don't know how many times my wife bought something and didn't tell me (didn't hide it either). Her thing is Little People toys, she collects the things and we have little extra space for it but I don't mind because it's something that she enjoys. So sometimes she makes sure not to mention she bought more Little People sets because she knows I'm to poke fun at here about it. We don't fight about it, just like to tease each other about our different styles of geekery.
Oh give me a break! I have "manned up". I pay 90% of the bills so if I want to buy something I do. Most people's wives don't care for money being spent on anything other than themselves, vacation or savings. Most don't like coins! If I had to negotiate everything, I wouldn't see much. How many people here do you really think can't wait to tell their wives about the coin that showed up and how much it was? I'm surprised there's any! What is to be gained by that conversation? If it makes no difference, who's going to bring it up and cause unneeded tension? I bet an anonymous poll would surprise you. If I was really that worried about her getting my mail, I guess I would have got a P.O. box by now, but I really don't care. I never endorsed skipping out on bills and responsibilities.
some wives actually like coin collecting (like mine) however there is a downside to that as well. since they are into coins, they can go with you to the coin shop, point to a really expensive (and possibly overpriced coin) and tell you that she wants that particular coin for the collection
