I'd hit the town any time with you big spender (large note) guys. Rarely, do I carry anything larger than a fifty, and that is often times too much. My note of choice is the the one with Hamilton's picture on it.....
I'm in the same boat. The largest note I normally have in my wallet is a $20. I just don't need anything bigger. I use my card for large purchases. I just don't need anything bigger in my pocket.
Right. I use the euro cash every day, and the only time I have ever "used" a €500 note was when I went to my bank and asked whether I could hold one in my hands please. The answer was No, but I could of course withdraw the amount, and he would give me one. The next day I brought it back (or actually them - the €200 note I never get to see either). That has been my only "encounter" with 200/500 notes so far. Keep in mind that the euro denominations were decided upon almost 17 years ago, in November 1994, when cash payments were more common. Yes, there are lots of €500 notes around somewhere. Some people buy used cars (from private sellers) that way, some like having them at home because they do not trust banks, and others may use them for illegal purposes. But there is no need for them in everyday life, and many stores even have signs saying that they do not accept €200 and €500 notes. So if anybody advocates the introduction of similarly high value bills in the US, they should not use Europe as an example of where they are "needed". They're just there. Christian
