No problem here :smile. I guess I'll have to see when the time comes, heck, I drove the wife and two kids 8 hours to South Carolina once just for a concert. So, right now I'll say maybe.
I am flying of course, lol I have the room booked at the show hotel, Hilton, but no airfare plans yet, plenty of time. See you guys there !!
Yes, they are one of the two in portland I was telling you about Harry. Haven't had a chance to check them out yet.
Hey Jack when you book, check prices coming into different airports there is a few that are close maybe you can save some money. Just a thought as I have run into this situation myself. But you probably already know. So whatcha think penny poker?
Sure, if they are XF/AU semi's Thanks for the hint on the airfare. I have someone who travels from AZ to this show I can ask. I would prefer a nonstop and a longer taxi ride over a short taxi ride and an aiplane switcheroo....we'll see, lots of time left for that.
Ruben I can get a steak here. I'll meet up with you for sure and I want a genuine NY Deli experience. Corned beef or Pastrami piled high. How far would a drive be to a genuine Phily steak wit? I want one of those as well......My wife is from Jersey.....Saddlebrook. She says you have not lived until you've had a Geno's WIT.
New York, strangely enough, has largely outgrown the Deli business. The plethora of deli's of years gone by are largely gone. There are Mindy's and the 2nd avenue deli now reopened in midtown, but I'm not sure of the quality. The neighborhood places are largely gone and the quality is not what it once was. There is a place called Jay's in Brooklyn that might be the best. The city has gone Sushi, Thai and vegetarian. But we also have the best steak houses in the nation, bar nobody. Then there is China Town which is always fun. There are also the very subpar tourist traps like the Carnegie Deli on 7th Avenue. They'll pile the meat up for you but I'll pass . Have you been to town before? Because NYC is a different experience than any place in the world. Most people don't comprehend the scale until they experience it. When ever I leave town for any length of time, it is the food that I miss. Not just any particular food, but all of it. When I lived in Texas I felt like I couldn't get a decent steak and forget fish. Ruben
I grew up in Detroit, I lived in LA for 5 years..I know what a big city is, but NY intimidates me.....I have never been east of Detroit, not even Cleveland. This is going to be an eye opener for me.
Since you're going to be so close to NYC you should check it out Jack. Ruben can be your tour guide. Most people equate NY with NYC. NY has some great country. I can go a half hour in pretty much any direction and catch brook trout out of a small stream. The Adirondack and Catskill Mountains are quite beautiful.
Yes they are! Jack how long you staying? Hopefully you can try to do a little sightseeing. Its a totally different country over here.
My grandfather (Petersburg, NY) used to call it Gods country. He used to say that nobody died in Gods country, save one person, and that was the undertaker.....he starved to death. :smile
