Not sure what this contest is about. Seems you have to guess at what the rules will be. Everyone's answer seems to be right so far until he sees your answer then makes up a rule that invalidates it. Am I missing something (I assume I am)?
Everyone can submit a different guess each day, so go for it! If you read the original post the very first paragraph states specifically what the contest is about. You have to guess the number of coins, their denomination and type that add up to the amount of $30.67. A list of the denominations and their types which were selected from is provided and so forth. One guess per day per member. What you are missing is that each guess thus far does not have the correct combination of denominations, types for each denomination and the quantity for each which must add up to a specified total. For example the sum of the coins is $100.00. In that hundred dollars is a quantity of coins, 185 which you do not know. What you have to do is guess what those coins actually are and how many of each. In this example you have to try and determine that there is a total of 20 one cent pieces of which there are 5 draped bust, 10 Indian head and 5 Lincoln cents. Repeat for the two cent pieces, three cent pieces, five cent pieces, dimes, 20 cent pieces, et cetera. The trick is that not all denominations from half cent through double eagle are included in the total amount nor are all of the various types for each denomination. The first person to correctly guess the actual combination of coins wins the contest.
I read the first post clearly and several times looking for more rules than just "guess". I just don't understand the challenge of a guessing game with no criteria (other than what you learn from the incorrect guesses). So I'm just going to wait until all but one of the possible answers have been guessed then submit the winning combo!
1 x Eagle Liberty -10.00 ------------------------------------------ 2 x Gold Dollars - Liberty Heads - 2.00 ------------------------------------------- 4 x Quarter Eagles - 2 Liberty, 2 Indian - 10.00 ---------------------------------------------------------- 3 x Peace dollars - 3.00 1 x Trade Dollar - 1.00 ------------------------------------------- 5 x Walking Liberty half dollars -2.50 1 x Franklin half dollar -0.50 ------------------------------------------- 1 x Jefferson nickel - 0.05 3 x Buffalo nickel - 0.15 2 x Liberty nickel - 0.10 2 x Shield nickel -0.10 ------------------------------------------ 4 x Mercury dimes -0.40 1 x Barber dime -0.10 3 x Roosevelt dimes - 0.30 2 x Seated Liberty dimes - 0.20 ----------------------------------------- 4 x 2 cent piece- 0.08 ---------------------------------------- 4 x Coronet cent - 0.04 8 x Lincoln wheat - 0.08 7 x Indian Head - 0.07 ---------------------------------------- 58 coins
There are no "rules" per se, just the information necessary to determine the correct combination. It is not a simple guessing game as you think it is. It is as more of a math and logic quiz that needs to be solved. If you wait until there is just one possible answer you would have waited too long because it won't get to one possible answer left.

From the members who submitted guesses on 6-4 and 6-5 here are the following results for each. wcoins's correct guesses: Gold dollars (3), all of the correct denominations with no extras not included. chip's correct guesses: Bust half dollars (2) ace71499's correct guesses: Liberty head quarter eagle (1), Capped Bust eagle (1) Jay 420247000's correct guesses: nothing this but keep trying. To all, submit different combinations each day. Now that all of the correct denominations have been identified determining the correct types for each the their quantities is what needs to be accomplished next. Keep in mind in some cases there are more types for a denomination whose actual quantities have been determined. Today's clue, there are more than 80 but less than 120 coins required, it is an even number, and more than 70% of that total are coins whose denomination is less than 50 cents. Good Luck!

Clue of the day, all of the correct types per denomination have been identified in the recap below. Now you just have to figure out how many of each. The total number of coins is an even number.
