    hello
i recently aquired some amazon credit and wanted to buy an informative book on coin collecting. a lot of what i read on the reviews are that some are too basic. I mean im no beginner, but im not far from beginner either, so i want something that has some decent info in that i won't be putting down in 5 minutes after reading it.
anyways.....the best one i can find is the coin year book. its Uk i assume, but im sure that you fine people will have an idea how good these are.
so, are these the definitive guides to collecting?
    heres the link

It is the book I rarely use for anything apart from Irish,Isle of Man,Jersey ETC.
For 1797-present try collectors coins GB (only about £4-£5)
If you want to be serious you will need Spink.
When you decide to specialise there are plenty more publications.

thanks peter. i picked up the spink one (though it was 2011 edition) from the library.sadly out of my credit on amazon, though do you think it worth saving for?

i intend to be quite serious about collecting (i tend to do things obsessively :) )
i suppose that the spink is the one to go for?
