Susan...Actually I was led into this hobby by my late father. I remember filling Whitman folders with him when I was Joe's age. Unfortunately, he never really got to see the full potential of his growing collection, but everything I do in this hobby, everything I add to it AND my collection is in his honor. All of which will one day be Joe's. That's the way he wanted it. Rachel...Looks like you and I have similar backgrounds with this fine hobby. I knew I was going to like you catman...Aren't you a doll?? Calling us all queens, aw shucks. It's members like you that make us few women truly feel welcome in this community and make it a little less intimidating to be in the minority. Although I think maybe I would prefer Princess, that way Rachel can retain her title of Queen, now we need something equally regal for Susan . Any suggestions? Duchess maybe? Personally I like being in a male dominated hobby. Growing up I always preferred to hang out with my brothers rather than sisters, always had more guy friends than girl friends. Thanks guys...for making us chicks feel like we belong.
After reading the preceding post to my husband, he laughed and said that maybe my title should be "Mistress" LOL
Coin World is Gone... Coin World Forum is gone. A lot of the forum members have come to Coin Talk. Being one of the old CW members I would like to thank Coin Talk for their welcome and their hospitality. This hobby of ours is not only a great hobby but it has great people to go with it. catman
catman...we are more than pleased to have you here. Anything enjoyed is worth sharing...I think I speak for all of us veterans here when I say that we are happy to share our home with you. In my eyes there are no CW members/ CT members...we all share this wonderful hobby that binds us together into one big happy family
I'm glad you feel that way GD...when I first changed my signature to that I was worried that I might offend someone...I've since gotten several PMs voicing the same opinion as yours. Thanks! I love you guys here! Finally...people who understand my weird sense of humor
I didn't realize that there were three of you out there. Maybe we should not refer to you in ranks of Royality but call you what you really are The Charmed Ones...! catman
Thank You for the invite to CoinTalk, GD. I was a lurker mostly, I learned quit abit from all the members at CW. Just browsing through this site is quit remarkable at all the sites to go to. I know I will enjoy this site as much as I did CW, with all the great people who were there. . I will try to be more of a joiner this time. From the few posts I have read, It looks like the people here are just as friendly and humorous. Lots of great topics. And yes, you did a Great Job over there, CW. Again, Thanks for the invite.
Hello all. I'm from the coin world site as well. Mostly a lurker, but I like this layout much more anyway and look forward to visiting these forums. And to my knowledge, there was no way to view the most recent posts in descending order. There is a way to sort the TOPICS, but not the posts. And that forum was always slow. This one is fast and has the last posts listed at the end of the topics, which is the way 99.99% of the forums have it.
Yeah well, ya' can't please everyone now can ya'. Just because the orginal group of forum members wanted to see it set up that way and it was different from all the other forums (of which there were very few), that certainly didn't make it bad. There were after all, hundreds of original members. After only 1 year, we had over 5,000 members signed up and the forum's monthly visits were over 750,000. I guess maybe someone must have liked the way it was setup eh?? I'm glad you like the way CT is setup. After all, this IS where you are.
It wasn't a criticism of you or the way you set up the forums. I actually emailed you about the post order problem before and you mentioned that nothing could be done about it unless you totally re setup the forums from scratch. This is a fundamental problem with the forum software, not you. The Coin World Forums were mostly slow loading and didn't have a lot of options, unlike this site. But, that I think is due to the forum software. I have setup several forums myself, and can tell you from experience that you can only do with what you have. It looks like you've made the best of what the package had to offer. So, that says a lot about you as an administrator I think you did a great job with what you had to work with. But, you will also notice that there was not a lot of activity on that board for as many members signed up there. Which is prolly why there was only one category for discussion, and apparently one of the reasons why CW decided to 'pull the plug'
What a party! Wow! that was quite some party over at CW wasn't it? Set a new record and had 19 pages of posts made in such a short time is amazing, to say the least. My head is killing me this morning and I'm not sure if I said or did anything I would be ashamed of later. If I did, don't tell me and I'll nerer know the difference. Now it's back to collection and getting ready for the new year with that in mind, here is something for you: I would like to propose a toast! Please rise...and charge your glasses to all the members of this Forum. May your coin holders always be full, Your pockets never empty. May your horse not cast a shoe Or the devil look at you In 2005, the year that lies ahead! Happy New Year to you all!
Well Ol' Buddy... It's probably good that you don't remember last night. When your picture appears in today's news and you ain't got no clothes...don't be surprized.. catman
Last night's party was great. What I can remember of it. Onward and upward. The new form is very entertaining. Happy New Year!
I vaguely remember someone dancing around with a lampshade on their head- longnine was that you? As sad as I was to see that Coin World was ending their forum, I'm glad I found this place. It's nice to see I'm not the only one with two X chromosomes here! Not that the guys at the other place weren't great, but you know.... I'd be willing to share my royal title with any of the "chicks" here! I do enjoy walking into a coin shop and watching all the guys look around- "Whoa! There's a chick in here!" Kinda fun, if you ask me! Rachel
