I searched on the net, there is no data about that. I can only guess. Since this coin collecting field too is related to their economies of people there must have been ups and downs in the coin market also following the economy. In the long term, according to what was told here on CT, the coin collecting market has started from zero in late BC and in early AD, rised slowly till 19th century, and then, peaked at 20th century. Now, what's happening in this 21st century? If it has already reached a peak point (like peak point of "bell curve" like "hill") in late 20th century, i.e. pre-2000, then, we can predict there will be some slow fall in the coin market, also following the sudden falls like it happened in the economy in 2008. So, then, lets have a look at what has happened in the economy in last decade. This is the graph showing the stock market between 2000-2010:

As seen in this chart, there were small ups/downs early 2008, and by the end of 2008 and early 2009, there was a sharp fall. What have caused these? "Small" things, as also seen in small fluctuations in that curve. Those small fluctuations look chaotic, hence, difficult to analyse them. However, Mandelbrot (famous for fractals in chaos) made an attempt to analyse just after the 2008 crisis, in Sept. 15, 2008 (Ref: "Multifractals explain Wall Street crisis" https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/multifractals-explain-wall-street/ ) and he illustrated the price oscillations in this diagram, by fractals, by self-similar ups-downs:

This means that the "small" things repeating themselves in "microeconomy" in the long period have resulted in a shock fall in "macroeconomy" after a period. So, we can also say the "bigs" are results while the "smalls" are causes? No, not exactly really so. They interact with each others. But, the problem here is in "neglecting" the "smalls" that have been done... What has been being missed is that: people have not been seeing the importance of the "smalls.) So, the coin of the microeconomy can be a driving "balance" force for the macroeconomy if it is viewed/handled properly. However, the coin should not be viewed/handled like it has been viewed/handled before. How it has been handled by economists hasn't been fitting the coin, particularly, one cent coin which they neglect/ignore that should (have) not be(en) done.
