[QUOTE="Paddy54, post: 8343083, member: 19250"]Growing up in the sixties was a wonderful time...I've often thought how fortunate I was to be born and raised in this time peroid. ....I never would wish for a do over....to any other time. To those of you who weren't part of this time line...well hopefully this thread, and post from us who were enlighten you to how things really were.... It wasn't uncommon for companies to give aways all sorts of Swag... Just about everything and anything one can imagine. You had a monthly Fuller Brush man....who stop by the house, he always had some small gimmie to put in your hand, with hopeful thoughts of selling you something. Not only was there a Fuller brush man...but the Jewel T company...long before shopping malls..you had salesmen knocking at your door...showing and selling their products... Companies in general knew a foot in the door with a little swag...generated sales! Encyclopedia's , footwear, cookies, pretzels and chips....etc...etc...all came to the front door. And guess what? They all made money to support their famlies. Post your numastics swag...encased cents, coins, and what ever you have found that was the key to a door to door salesman. Here is an Morgan silver dollar a give away from Armour Star meats...you will notice I said Armour star* As in those days that was their branding....not just Armour...see the * in the lower right after Armour.
