Like Old Dan says; No people Montana-4th largest state in the union. Coin shows-1 per year Lucky for me it's only 120 miles (could be a lot worse) So I guess it's a trade off,To live in this beautiful country, no coin shows.
Luckily we have some shows in the area, if I searched I could probably find one to go to once or twice a month. There is also a moderate sized one that is held every 3 months...then the larger TNA show once a year. Joe & I hit almost all of them...soccer schedule permitting The one that is held every 3 months is very close to home so I try to pop in on Friday to give everything a quick once over while Joe is in school, then Joe & I go back on Saturday and easily spend 3 or 4 hours...I'm usually ready to go long before he is . We rarely if ever go on a Sunday for 3 reasons...everything is picked over, most of the dealers have gone home, AND we can't miss the Nascar race! It's especially nice now that we've become regulars. The main dealers all know us by name and usually have something stashed behind the table for Joe or something that they think I might be interested it, knowing my collecting habits. Since the only decent shop is a bit of a jaunt away for me, I tend to keep a running 'shopping list' between shows. Probably the most fun is doing the tally of our purchases on the way home. Joe & I compare, he usually comes home with MORE coins, while I've spent more ...SSoooo not fair! The next one on our calendar is in a week & a half...hmmm, my birthday weeked, gonna have to pick out something REAL nice for myself
They most be HUGE I went for the first time to the show in Baltimore based on your recommendation and I thought it was HUGE! I liked it most because they had lots for the kids and my son had a great time too. I mostly like to look
I live in massachusetts, there are three monthly shows that are within an hour drive that I attend when I have a chance. the closest to me (20 Minutes) is the Westford MA show. There is also a show that I have attended a few times in Nashua NH, but the last time I went to that show (about a year ago) it was mostly stamp dealers, so I haven't been back since. The other monthly show is is Dedham Ma, which is about an hour drive for me. There are also a couple annual and bi-annual shows in Boston and bedford NH. The first few times I went to shows I was really overwhelmed. There is just so much to look at. If you are like me and collect a little bit of everything there will be so many things you want to buy you won't know what to do. I usually go in with a want list with prices and try to stick to that. Otherwise, I just run around in circles and don't end up buying anything. I guess I am starting to be a regular at some of the shows as some of the dealers recognize me and remember what I collect which is probably not to hard because I collect everything. Just like anything else some of the dealers are jerks and some are really personable and will try to teach you a few things while you are talking to them. There are the ones I try to give my business to. It is alot of fun, can't wait for the westford show in a few weeks.
We have about two a year. Since I dont really read the newspaper I miss them most of the time especially since the ad in the paper is really small.
Still waiting on ya to make your way down here for a Grapevine show. The next one is in a week & a half...we'll be there if you have the time. OR...wait until the TNA show in May held in Fort Worth and come down and meet tradernick also. I've been chatting with him and it looks like he may make the trip. We could make it a mini Coin Talk Convention
