Made it to Raleigh, but the guy I was especially looking for is apparently in Orlando this weekend. Still a fair amount of activity, and managed to sell some 90%, although a lot say they just aren't buying right now. I'll wander around a bit more.
@-jeffB Cherry pick an 1888o scarface or hot lips Morgan $ out of a raw junk bin. Then sell it to me for half of the going rate! Its a win-win!
@-jeffB I believe your bad luck rubbed off on me man. I went to get a pizza last night and blew a tire. Ofcourse that was AFTER i gassed up my vehicle to drive down to the show this morning. So now i hafta take $40 out of my coin $ for a tire AND fill up a whole nother gas tank all over again. So thanx, i blame you
Yeah, I hate cars for a lot of reasons, and "gobbling money that could otherwise go to coins" is one of them. Mine's going in for $400 worth of front-end work this week -- but that's less bad luck, and more "still driving the same Honda I bought in 1999". But how would we get to shows without them?
I collect Ancients. I miss going to NC shows. Went to the listed above WI show... very very few ancients, unfortunately a bust for me.
I did notice an empty table where Herakles Numismatics was supposed to be. I also saw that one of the long-time ancients dealers had recently passed away. His family (I assume) was still there running the table.
Perry said he would not be at the Show until SUNDAY. I am now working through email with him. Sadly, Guy Clark passed recently. Tom Woods may be handling a table for his estate. I miss NC...
I left almost two hours before you posted. I have no connection to the outside world once I leave the comfort of Wifi.
But-but-but they have free public WiFi at the Fairgrounds! You must have a longer drive than I do -- it's about 20 minutes from my house if traffic's good (which it usually is on weekends). There's another show May 6-7, but that's the one in the Martin Building, and it's so tiny that it's not always worth my drive. After that, it's the The Big One, the Raleigh Money Expo, June 2-4. Edit: Hey, wait a second -- I posted Wednesday AND Thursday! Just how long was your drive?
Went to my first Coin Show ever ... at a VFW hall. Bought a couple ASEs to fill my entire mintage set and a full split band 1945D MS64 dime. I didn't have a full split band mercury so I guess I do now.
