I was there all three days. From what I hear, attendance at the show was 2,000 with Saturday the busiest at just over 1,000. It was a little quiet on Friday and Sunday afternoon, but otherwise the show had a constant flow of collectors. The show certainly had more activity and things to do than a typical club show. The Raleigh Coin Club has been building this show for years and is doing a nice job of making it the best show in NC.
I quite enjoyed myself and look forward to it next year. They did a great job and the open air market on Saturday was a delight as well. I wasn't expecting that and was pleased when I arrived.
They do shows like that every other month but I think this is their biggest one of the year. They still have good size shows in Raleigh 6 times a year
The Raleigh Coin Club only does one show a year (either in June or July). It's definitely the biggest coin show in Raleigh (and NC). The other shows in Raleigh are commercial shows sponsored by two different local coin dealers.
Nice piece! I haven't generally seen Libertads with so much color. I've seen a number with rim toning, but not many with such "all over" toning.
The open air flea market runs all summer long at the fairgrounds on the weekends in Raleigh. It can be lots of fun to walk around and see what people are selling. I enjoyed the show too and usually hit the other smaller shows they have there. Those smaller shows can have quite a few dealers there too so they are worth hitting if you can make it. Sometimes, though, they are small but deals can be had.
My personal set will be about 90% complete when I am done. I don't want the toughest dates until I can afford them in grades similar to the body of my set. Right now I am holding at an AU-58 average and I would like to keep it there or as close as I can.
