<p>[QUOTE=&quot;illini420, post: 1743621, member: 19423&quot;]Today, I had a few minutes to kill and was nearby a local coin shop that I hadn&#039;t visited in a few months so I figured I&#039;d drop in.&nbsp; </p><p><br /></p><p>Of course, since silver is down around $12/oz. in the past week the shop was &quot;sold out&quot; of all silver.&nbsp; Not for a second did I believe they were really sold out.&nbsp; It is much more likely the owner of the shop pulled all of the silver from the cases and just isn&#039;t selling until prices recover or until he really needs the cash.&nbsp; Wasn&#039;t planning on buying silver anyways so it didn&#039;t really matter much!</p><p><br /></p><p>Looked over the coins and most of the material was the same as it had been a few months ago, mostly boring and overpriced Morgan Dollars and low grade type coins.&nbsp; After looking through everything, I did come across a commemorative that looked pretty neat to me, a 1920 Pilgrim Tercentenary.&nbsp; Although the coin wasn&#039;t exactly cheap, I bought it because I thought it was an MS64 or MS65 coin and I thought it had an overall nice look too it.&nbsp; Here&#039;s a pic I took:</p><p><br /></p><p><img src="http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm111/illini420/1920pilgrimobv.jpg" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" /><img src="http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm111/illini420/1920pilgrimrev.jpg" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" /></p><p><br /></p><p>When I got home later in the day, I was pleased to see that I received a couple more commemoratives that I had bought.&nbsp; The first, an 1892 Columbian in PCGS MS65 was priced a little higher than most MS65 examples, but I thought it had a nice look to it and I really liked the reverse toning so I felt it was worth the price.&nbsp; The second coin, a 1926 Sesquicentennial $2.5 gold in PCGS AU58 again had a nice overall look to it and looked like an MS63 or MS64 example to me so I went for it.</p><p><br /></p><p><img src="http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm111/illini420/1892columbian65o.jpg" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" /> <img src="http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm111/illini420/1892columbian65r.jpg" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" /></p><p><br /></p><p><img src="http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm111/illini420/sesquigoldo.jpg" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" /> <img src="http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm111/illini420/sesquigoldr.jpg" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" /></p><p><br /></p><p>Sort of bummed out that I can&#039;t make it to lot viewing for the Heritage Pittsburgh auction.&nbsp; Heritage is having lot viewing today and tomorrow (9/29-9/30) in Beverly Hills and I would have liked to see some of the coins just for fun.&nbsp; I&#039;m not seriously interested in bidding on any of the lots in the auction, but it would have been cool to see the PCGS MS69PL Morgan Dollar and some of the other rarities being auctioned off.&nbsp; Even if I&#039;m not buying, I still like to take the opportunity to see some of these cool coins in hand when I have the chance.&nbsp; Oh well, will just have to wait for the next time.</p><p><br /></p><p>:thumb:[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
