My best find was last Dec.at a local estate auction, There were more than the usual amount of coins at this auction and not a lot of people there. I looked over the coins, nothing really grabbed my eye. While waiting for the auctioneer to get to the coins I went back to see if I missed anything of interest, There was a plastic bag of 4 half dimes and one dime, I scribbled down the dates and went back to my chair and looked them up in my redbook, saw nothing really great but noticed that IF that dime was an 1885s I'M interested! I sat in my chair wondering what are the chances of a coin with only 43,690 mintage be of showing up in this small town. Well I went back and asked to see it again, well damn! it is an 1885s!. It was very hard to see it thru the plastic and the coin is very dark. I thought no way I'll get it, the bidding will go thru the roof! When it came up for bid I just held my card up until bidding was done, well it ended soon as apparently no one else noticed the mintmark in the dark and thru the plastic. The coin is very dark as some of those old dimes get. I checked several sites and located only 2 that were for sale over the last 3 yrs. A very good deal for $65. I got another very good deal last nite but cant describe as I dont have the coin yet. All that searching occasionally pays off.
