I'll also post it here as well. </p><p> </p><p>Ratio411, There are basically two types of coin rings, Those that are double sided like those pictured above and the hammered type you are interested in. Where the coin is put on its edge and hammered until the edge flairs out and the center is drilled out. This leaves the outside surface of the ring smooth (no detail). I have done both types and prefer the double sided type. I have found the hammered type are very thin on the edges and don't wear well.
