How much distance is there between the lens and coin with each camera?

I don't know about everyone else but it's been recommended to place camera on small can or jar like my example>>>> IMG_20210927_033012723.jpg

I have a tripod and I generally have the macro lens about 3 feet from the coin, more or less.

How about your new camera, how much distance?

I have the same macro. I think you get better photos from the macro because of the difference in distance.

With the macro more light is able to get through.

I generally don't use it for coins. It is not friendly to manual focus.

I guess I was a little confused then. In reading your first post you were wondering why your new camera can’t outshoot your 15 year old camera with the macro lens.

You were using an Ike dollar as the subject. So I’ve been asking questions about distance between the lens and subject ( the Ike dollar ) and now you’re saying you don’t know because you don’t use the new camera for shooting coins. So what is this thread about then?
