Cool story but I don't agree with their assessment of the value. Just my opinion. It's a modern dime. Rare? maybe but c'mon. LOL.
I wonder if their bro had any 1916 D Winged Liberty dimes stashed somewhere? Might be time to pull out your metal detector. ;-)
If I could only tell you about all the coins and stories I've seen and heard about over the years while detecting. For example, I knew a guy who found a "Higley Copper". It was graded G6 because of its rarity and wasn't details graded. I was able to actually hold it and shook the whole time I was so nervous. Most people don't even know what these coins are.
So I'll have to remember to dig out my proof sets and see if I happen to have one. Thanks for the reminder... and no I've never looked for a no S 1975 proof dime before. I'm sure I've heard of it but never really thought to look.
I've never heard of a rabid huge-budget modern clad Roosevelt collector. But I suppose there must be a few.
Well, it's currently $275k with BP so I don't doubt it will hammer for half a million. The other one is owned by someone with the only complete set of Roosevelt dimes, so if you also have that as your goal you have to have this one.
I bid 10 cent, I'm willing to go as high as 11 cent. Hay I have a coin with a missing "S" can I sell it for $500,000:
Same article on CBS popped up in my feed. Weird how this is getting traction and the 1652 New England threepence has been so quiet. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1652-new-england-threepence-is-real.413816 Look for a ton of "no mint mark, I'm rich!!" posts in the coming weeks.
