As I am not the only person seeing some of these comments as rude, crude and uncalled for I do see reason to be defensive. Your comments were at least polite, calling the coins "shlok" and worthless is another story, it is an attack plain and simple. I am not the only person who is seeing it this way either as the responces above show.
I will say however booksb4coins, your statement was at least polite and clearly stated your opinion, I took no offense to that. I didn't even take offence to xGAJx's comment about who dug them up because he is new and probably not aware that it was a lowball set the coins were purchased for. On the other hand some people I know have read and followed this set being put together and are well aware of what is being built so have no valid excuse for being obnoxious, critical or simply RUDE.

So on a final note here I will give this little kindergarten reminder..."If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all"

I did not know the concept was to do a type set of sorts with all coins costing under $20 average/ median or whatever.

True collectors don't really collect for profit as an investment, but it should be in the back of your mind somewhat....thus choice coins should do much better than bidboard $1 Schlok coins.

If you want Schlok coins , don't overpay for them, A B&M dealer should have plenty of culls to sell cheaply, honestly a dealer might pay $6 for that lot.

    Chacun ses gouts !

Like John stated earlier, the coins have character.

Pay no mind to what other 'characters' might say (forbid the slings and arrows) and enjoy what you're doing Weasel.......collecting. :)

I agree, if you like them then it doesn't really matter! Hope they find nice places in your collection.

For sure! I still have to find a prize and we will need a new venue since it isn't related to numismatics :S

So I have seen, and I asked about it when this new policy interpretation came out, so we will host it someplace else, but I had to come back and keep it going haha.

Sometimes it just don't pay to be honest with someone posting and looking for opinions.

I agree with Mark. It's a worthy challenge and you've already surpassed the point at which most would have failed.
