is this a coin or token? I took the photo with my crap cellphone. I'm trying to figure it out for a friend. it looks the same on both sides.
I think I'll disagree, I don't recognize the characters as Korean. Sadly, I don't have a better solution. Maybe it's something from Star Trek or some other series with their own language?
No, not pachinko. Pachinko uses small nickel/steel? balls that are purchased at the main counter of a pachinko parlor. The machines spits out additional balls if you win. Then they can be turned in for prizes. The balls are used like money in a vertical pin ball type of game. It's very popular in Japan and you can loose a lot of $$$ ¥¥¥ fast!
Ah, yes. I'd forgotten. I was there in 1965. Never actually played pachinko but your description shook the dust off my memories.

Found the same token in Coldwater, MI today. It made it through as a coin as change from the post office.
