I just recently purchased an 1828 Capped Bust Half Dollar
and I was wondering, what are your opinions on it....
    IMO, I think its a great coin...(price was $38.99)
and a pretty good bargain...but what's the grade on it???
I'm not really sure but the surface looks original....
thanks for the help and remember:

    VG-8 or G-6 - I'm torn and will call it a Almost VG 7. :)

As for if it's a bargain or not, I have no idea, but $40 can't be all that bad of a deal for a coin from 1828!

$39 sounds fair. Looks G06 to me.

What variety would this coin be under???
I looked up the redbook and it has over 5
    different kinds of varieties....

The black spots...are they really marker damage???

    Looks like O-108 (Overton).

Large 8's, Square base, knobbed 2.

but, someone will correct me if I am off.

I like the G-6 grade for the coin and would not worry about any old cleaning. Looks nice to me for the price.
