Yes, BRILLIANT! I love people with their "holier than thou" attitudes who have no clue about self defense but like to get on internet forums and lecture about it. People who would much prefer to be a victim than have to defend themselves or even their own families. Better to leave the victim unarmed so there's absolutely NO chance of him surviving. That makes alot of sense. LOL!!!

The fact that the attackers were NOT armed (if anybody was paying attention to the story) causes me to believe all the more that he would have survived the attack had he been armed! Most of the time, you're not going to just get hit and die instantly. It probably took quite a while. He would have had a chance.

And NO, there was not 100 other things that could have been done to prevent this crime. You're delusional.

It could have been a random act where they actually wanted nothing. Gang members earning their stripes. It's probably more senseless than if they had robbed him and really needed the money. Animals don't even do this.

It could be, but then there's this point-- the area where the coin dealer's body was dumped was not some abandoned industrial area or some dilapidated tenement district, it was apparently in a well-to-do area of Brooklyn. They abandoned their black Volvo (not exactly the car of choice for gang members, although it could have been stolen/carjacked) two blocks from there. Where did they go after they abandoned the Volvo? Was there another car waiting for them? If so, it sounds like it would have been premeditated.

Also, did the thugs attack Mr. Halfon with their bare hands, or did they use pipes, baseball bats, etc., to completely surprise and incapacitate him?

Finally, is there a description of any of the thugs? There were witnesses, but the news story doesn't include any descriptions of the thugs for some reason.
