I just checked the ANA library link posted earlier, typed in Kennedy and they have five copies of Wiles book to loan out.

I saw that but it is not taking my password. I will deal with it later, have to go to bed now. Thanks Caleb.

I just purchased Capped Bust Fever off eBay. Can't wait to dig in.

  8. I don't know if it's already in there but I think an interesting topic would be coin investing for the future. Or how to make a profit. Just an idea. Thanks and good luck!

The library is on a different system. You need to setup an id on the library system. It comes free with the membership to ANA, but you have to set it up separately.

Well I got them in, will have to take some time to review. I have had the stove fail (replace control module), hot water heater fail (new one), Car thermostat (will get it this weekend as it started working again), and now finally the dryer...(reading up on possibilities. I got the vent unclogged (20') and thought I had it but no heat. Thinking fuse so really have not had time these last few days. The library rocks though, sent just as they said and all it was was $10 postage.

I'm glad the libarary worked out for you. In this modern day of tec, with ebooks and e-readers the old fashion libarary sometimes gets forgotten. But if the
ANA Libarary can save you just the price of buying one book that you really don't want and save up for the books you realy do want then it will be worth it in the end.

Now that I have it in hand it is frustrating, I have the "TREASURE HUNTING FRANKLIN KENNEDY HALF $ DOUBLED DIES" also and they have different information. As for the Coneca book I have to read into more. Yes I am happy with the library and after a little time I will see if the book is worth $200 to me.

My first go at it tonight is not going well. I have a DDO 1964 that I can not ID yet.

Don't forget that there are Master Doubled Dies for 1964 plus several of them were attributied after the book released. Take good pictures and ask Larry (Atrox0001) for help, he is great on helping people out.

I might have to as I can not find it in either. I need to read the front so that I can understand the lingo and ID stuff.

    Imagine that

And that is why, as I have said more times than I can count, that you need to buy all the books you can find on any given subject - if you want to learn.

The next thing you will find out is that different books contradict each other. That is because books have some good information and books have some bad information. And that is generally true of just about any book.

The coins tell the story, the coins are the story. They always have been the story, they always will be the story. The coins are the only evidence that matters, regardless of what any book says, or who wrote it.

That is the problem with writing books. They are all too often largely based on and repeat what has been written in other books by other people. And all too often bad information is merely repeated again, and again, and again.

So how do you find out which is good and which is bad, and in what book ? By buying all of the books of course. And then studying the coins.

I am working on that. I will be posting a thread with a particular coin and my journey to see just what I have...actually two of them..

    Read Doug's post.

    Then read it again.

There is a lot of bad info out there.

That was the fun in writing my book, it had never been done before.
There were a lot of rumors out there, and I had to chase them down, either verify or deny.
Plus I was fortunate to have access to a lot of original material.

    Trust, but verify.

I can see why they are nice to have. Most of that information is hard to find. The problem is as time passes, things are lost.

The thread I have going about the Accented Hair little brother is a good case and point. The Kennedy book lists it as more rare than the AH and yet no one cares..
