I like the two books I bought on cast bronze recently: Garrucci (first published in 1885) and Haeberlin (first published in 1910). The first used hand sketches. The second uses pictures, but I think some were pictures of castings of the coins. Now we can upload pictures of our treasures to web sites like this.
