I have a pot which contained holloways ointment--it cured all sorts of ailment according to him.he was a bit of a character ,he put adverts on the pyramids in Egypt and other places,he advertised in news papers which was a new idea at the time.his cure all did not work would you believe it, and he went bankrupt and ended up in a debtors jail I believe.
I did not read about the bankruptcy, but I did know about his advertising techniques. Back then, everyone was selling magic potions
I love the scene in "The Outlaw Josie Wales" when the group he's collected comes into town and there is a huckster selling a magic elixir. The dude asks Josie if he'd like to purchase some and Josie leans over and spits tobacco juice on his nice white suit and asks him if it will work on that!
I think I have that exact token. A friend who knows I collect coins gave it to me. 1857 date. I'll have to find my photo of it....
1855 PRINCE EDWARDS ISLAND-FISHERIES AND AGRICULTURE TOKEN I really like the simple design of this half penny size token. Nice fonts and they fill this token up just right.
I think the tokens I've been collecting is a matter of being in the right place at the right time. I would show you my collection of coins I gathered being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I doubt you would be impressed Thank you all for appreciating my collection.
1816 WHOLESALE & RETAIL HARDWARE STORE TOKEN - NS-15A Another cool Canadian token. If someone could give me their opinion on grade, I would appreciate it.
WELLINGTON CANADIAN TOKEN-1812-WE-11B I dont even have this token in hand yet, but I couldnt help post it. Its a really neat piece.
