US Coins did a video on YouTube following the John Albanese interview where they bashed it with a hammer, tried the tile nippers, and ran over it with a truck. These are relatively indestructible compared to others.
Weight is a big deal if you're shipping. A PCGS slab with a dollar in it is about 0.4 oz lighter than an NGC slab. 8 PCGS slabs can be shipped as a first class package, 8 NGC slabs is priority mail.
Prove it. just cause some guy named Charley says it on the internet, doesn't make it true. CACG is no different than the PCI slabs, CAC has been giving notoriety to over graded coins for many years. Why should I trust the grade on their slab?
My big question on this is whether CAC is going to succumb to gradeflation like PCGS and NGC. My fear is that if they are fairly stringent with their standards, more folks might defect back to PCGS or NGC if there are higher grades on offer with those services.
I watched it yesterday and was generally impressed with the hammer test. Wasn't necessarily convinced it was more difficult to crack using the snippers or truck than competitors since there was no direct comparison to a modern PCGS or NGC slab. Personally, I have never damaged a slab on accident, but sure have run across a lot of them. I suspect dropping on concrete floors and shipping are big causes of damage, but I've always been a bit in the dark about why so many slabs are damaged.
Not sure how someone would fail at a crackout attempt - you either crack it out or you don't - there is no try!
From the pictures and videos I’ve seen I think they look great. I’m really looking forward to getting one into my collection. I see people are already asking absurd money for them on eBay. I’ll wait until the hype dies down…
Yes they asking a lot - not a payer at that nor pay more than Pcgs money, especially on mods. Are those coins shipped right away or is this a presale gimmick.
I've seen slabs dropped on concrete floors many times at shows. Includes seeing entire boxes accidentally dumped on the floor. Some dealers treat 'em like hockey pucks. Cal
